About Me

While girls my age dreamt of becoming ballerinas and princesses, five year old me knew I was going to be a chef. I was resolute as a child, but wavered as a young adult, only to return on my original path after trying my hand at other careers.

Although I cook daily for a living, I still enjoy sitting down to a home-cooked meal. In fact, there is nothing I love more than to walk into my kitchen, open the cupboards, and to think about all the possibilities! My passion stems from the beautiful local and seasonal produce that abound, and I would love nothing more than to share this with you.

I am a (sometime lapsed) vegetarian, so most of the recipes I post are veggie-friendly. While all foods, including meats, follow a seasonal cycle, fruits and vegetables are those most visibly affected by the turning calendar. They are also the foods that pose the most problems even to experienced cooks: we all know what to do with tomatoes, but what about kohlrabi?!?!?! Through this blog, I hope to share with you the wonders of rutabaga, and guide you through the seasons.

Occasionally, I may go on a mini-rant about the state of the world. It is how I am. This foodie's quest is about finding accessible avenues to a more sustainable diet, feeding an ever growing population in a more uncertain time. But all is not doom and gloom, and living sustainably is not without pleasure. I, first and foremost, take immense pleasure in eating and feeding others. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Bon app'!
